‘SIGNS OF CHANGE’
The open-air exhibition “Signs of Change” at Marcusheide will be officially opened on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. as part of the RAW Photo Festival Worpswede.
Festival curator Jürgen Strasser will personally introduce visitors to the open-air gallery on site and provide exclusive insights into the background of the works on display. The exhibition centers on eight striking photography projects by international photographers who explore the pressing issues of climate change and sustainability through both artistic and documentary lenses.
Exhibited outdoors, the large-format photographs enter into a direct, powerful dialogue with the natural landscape of the Worpswede Teufelsmoor. It’s an inspiring start that invites festivalgoers to view global change from new, international perspectives.

We cordially invite you to join us in celebrating the kickoff of the fifth edition of the RAW Photo Festival. The opening night marks the beginning of four inspiring weeks of the festival, all dedicated to contemporary photography.
The “Director’s Choice” exhibition will also officially open during the evening. For this exhibition, festival curator Jürgen Strasser has compiled his personal “Best of” from the festival years 2016 through 2023.
Take this opportunity to chat with the artists over a glass of sparkling wine, as many of the participating photographers will be there in person. We look forward to seeing you there and to a stimulating conversation.

‘PHOTOGRAPHIC ART TO BROWSE THROUGH’
In cooperation with the PhotoBookMuseum Cologne, the RAW Project Office presents the award-winning photobooks from 2016–2026 of the internationally renowned “Photobook Dummy Award.” This globally recognized award honors the best unprinted book prototypes (dummies) and is considered an important barometer of current trends in photography. Originally founded by the Fotobookfestival Kassel, the award is now administered by the Cologne museum, which sends the best works on an annual worldwide exhibition tour.
Guests at the opening reception will be welcomed by Andrea Andersen, director of the Worpswede Tourist Information Office, and festival curator Jürgen Strasser.
